Indicative estimate only for a resident salaried individual below 60 with no other income. New regime assumes the standard deduction of ₹75,000 plus the Section 87A rebate where applicable. Deduction checklist

Commonly used provisions under the old regime.

  • 80C

    Investments and contributions

EPF, PPF, ELSS, life insurance premium, home loan principal, children’s tuition fees and specified small savings.

  • 80D

    Health insurance premium

Premium paid for self, family and parents, with higher limits available for senior citizens.

  • 80CCD(1B)

    National Pension System

An additional deduction for contributions to NPS, over and above the Section 80C limit.

  • HRA

    House Rent Allowance

Exemption computed as the least of actual HRA, rent minus 10% of salary, or 50%/40% of salary depending on city.

Most of these deductions are available only under the old regime. Limits and conditions are set by law and may change — confirm the current position before relying on them.
